What is Time Off Management?
Time off is the time an employee takes off work and time off management is the process of administrating the time an employee takes off. Time off management involves processes like tracking leaves, tracking PTOs, absence management, or attendance tracking. All companies must comply with the leave entitlement requirements according to the law. It is both local laws and the company policies that decide the way of time off management. The number of days an employee can take for any type of leave depends on several things including the employment contract, laws defined by the local government, and the company policy.

Types of Leaves
The following are some types of leaves employees can request during their employment.
Parental leave is an extended version of maternity leave type that can be claimed by both parents. Employers can give parental leave in three forms; paid, shared, and unpaid, all covered under the leave policy of the organization. This policy is also created after taking the parental leave act and the respective state laws into consideration.
Bereavement leave or grievance leave is time-off taken by an employee following the death of a relative or friend. Some companies even provide time off for their employees when their pet passes away. Although very few countries have laws for this type of leave, HR professions should consider making it a paid time off and giving their employees proper time for grieving their loved ones.
Sick leave is time off given by the company to allow employees to recover from an illness and take care of their health. Sick leave is a mandatory requirement in many countries to ensure employees return to work with a healthy body.
Casual leave is taken by an employee for travel, vacation, rest, and family events. Many companies around the world, allow their employees 8 to 15 days of casual leave per year. A paid casual leave ensures all the employees are happy and are able to maintain a balanced work-life ratio.
