AI Interpreter Quality Upgrades + Traditional Chinese Support Microsoft Teams has added AI Interpreter quality upgrades and extended language support to include Traditional Chinese, making multilingual meetings more accessible across a wider range of teams.

Branded Meeting Reactions Teams now supports branded meeting reactions, giving organizations the ability to customize the in-meeting experience to align with their identity.

External Presenter Verification for Events A new One-Time Email Passcode system allows tenant administrators and event organizers to verify anonymous external presenters before they join events. Once verified, presenters receive a ‘Verified’ tag next to their name. Admins can configure the requirement from the Teams Admin Center or via PowerShell.

External Domains Anomalies Report A new External Domains Anomalies Report helps admins proactively identify unusual or risky interactions with external organizations, detecting spikes, new domains, or abnormal engagement patterns before they become security issues.

Events Experience in Meet The Meet app is evolving into a central hub where you can discover events across your org, track upcoming plans, and manage professional events — all in one place.

Video Recap for Meeting Highlights Video recap is a new way to catch up on past meetings, surfacing the key moments without having to watch a full recording.

AI-Generated Video Recap Teams now turns meeting recordings into short, narrated highlight reels via AI-generated video recaps, so you can quickly catch up on what matters most without watching the full session.

AI Agents: Slash Commands, Quoted Replies, and Emoji Reactions Agents in Teams now support slash commands to invoke actions directly from the compose box, quoted replies to keep threaded conversations anchored to the right message, and emoji reactions — so agents can respond without cluttering a thread with another text reply.

Partner Agents: Linear, Cursor, and Atlassian Rovo Three powerful new partner agents are now available in Teams. The Cursor agent lets you invoke Cursor’s Cloud Agents directly inside any channel or chat for faster code shipping. The Atlassian Rovo agent brings AI-powered context across Jira and Confluence, letting you create issues and draft pages from a single Teams conversation.

Brand Impersonation Protection for Teams Phone Teams Phone now alerts you in real time when a caller may be posing as a trusted brand like your bank or IT helpdesk, so you can decline or report the call with confidence.

Transcribe Only Mode When scheduling a Teams meeting, you can now choose “Transcribe only” — automatically starting a transcript without creating a recording. Useful for meetings where recording isn’t appropriate but a written record is still needed for accessibility, Copilot, or Intelligent Recap.

March 2026

AI-Powered Workflows App (No Coding Required) A new Workflows app lets you automate everyday tasks using Copilot — routing documents for approval, pulling teammate updates, or adding tasks to Planner directly from messages. AI-powered workflow templates are included, and no coding is required. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is needed to access AI workflows.

Multi-Account, Multi-Tenant Collaboration Teams now consolidates notifications from across all your organizations into one feed, so you don’t miss a chat or mention from any account. You can pin key accounts to your sidebar for quick access — no more switching tenants.

Accurate Presence on Teams Web A new setting in Teams on the web maintains your presence as “Available” when you’re active on your device, even if you’re not in the Teams tab — giving colleagues a more accurate picture of your availability.

Draft Management A centralized draft management system consolidates all unsent messages from chats and channels into one accessible location, so partially written messages are never lost and easy to revisit.

EXIF Metadata Removed from Shared Images Teams now automatically strips EXIF metadata (including location and device details) from images when shared, protecting user privacy by default.

December 2025

Multi-Window Workspace You can now open Teams chat, calls, calendar, activity, and more in separate windows, giving you the flexibility to multitask and organize your workspace the way you want. Simply right-click an app icon or use the app flyout to pop it into its own window.

Domain Impersonation Protection A new “Tenant-Owned Domain Impersonation Protection” feature analyzes the identity and domain authenticity of external users on first contact, ensuring they aren’t impersonating your organization’s domain.

Auto Language Detection for Interpreter Spoken language is now automatically detected and updated across Interpreter, live captions, and live transcription when Interpreter is enabled — no manual setup required, keeping all speech features consistent with the language being spoken.

Post-Call Copilot Chat The post-call experience for Teams Phone is now powered by Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. After a call ends, users can open Copilot Chat as a side panel to generate summaries, surface key insights, and get suggested next steps — pulling from Microsoft Graph and the web, not just the call transcript.

Mid-2025

Smarter Teams Rooms Hybrid meetings got a major upgrade with Teams Rooms now using voice and face recognition to identify speakers and personalize the in-room experience. Combined with real-time caption translations, language barriers in global meetings are essentially eliminated.

Audio Podcast-Style Meeting Recaps Take a break from your screen and catch up on meetings with podcast-style audio recaps. AI transforms meeting transcripts into engaging audio summaries — available with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses.

Enhanced Webinars Webinar upgrades include support for up to 10,000 attendees, waitlists, customizable registration forms, and event-specific group chats for better coordination at scale.

Shared Notes in Chats Shared notes in chats and group chats now include checklists, voting tables, and integration with Microsoft Loop pages — making it easier to track action items and gather team input without leaving the conversation.

Real-Time PowerPoint Updates During Meetings Presenters can now make live edits to slides during a meeting. Selecting “Present the latest version” makes any changes immediately visible to all attendees — no need to stop the meeting to update your deck.

Breakout Rooms via CSV Import Setting up breakout rooms is now easier with the ability to import a CSV file to create multiple rooms at once and pre-assign participants before the meeting starts.

Efficiency Mode A new Efficiency Mode reduces processor, memory, and network usage for users on lower-performance devices or in bandwidth-constrained environments, ensuring smoother performance without losing core functionality.

Emojis in Custom Section Names Teams now supports emojis in custom section names, letting you visually organize your workspace in a way that feels more personal and intuitive — familiar to anyone coming from Slack.
